OYSTER EXTRACT
The oyster contains a surprisingly well-balanced composition of such nutrients as zinc and taurine, as well as glycogen, vitamins, and minerals. In terms of nutritional value, oysters rank higher than other shellfish or food products.
In relation to men's sexual health, zinc is very important for testicular health and prostate health. The prostate gland contains more zinc than any other organ in the body. Zinc supplementation has been shown to increase free testosterone levels in the blood which increases libido, reduces fatigue, and improves overall sexual health. Zinc deficient men develop a condition called hypogonadism in which the testicles shrink and loose function.
Another interesting aspect of this zinc is that sperm contain very high levels zinc, 700 times more than in blood plasma. Again the reason for this is unclear but with every ejaculation an adult males looses approximately 0.7mg of zinc per ml of semen. Therefore each ejaculation can result in a loss of several mg's of zinc for the adult male. The cumulative effect is a decrease in overall libido if suitable replenishment of zinc is not observed.
TRIBULUS TERRESTRIS EXTRACT
Tribulus terrestris has played an important role in the folk medicine of many countries for centuries. In India, Tribulus terrestris has been used as an aphrodisiac and the Chinese use it in liver, kidney, urinary and cardio-vascular remedies. It has also served as treatment for headache and nervous exhaustion. Ancient Greeks used the dried fruits of the plant as a mild laxative and general tonic.
For all of its therapeutic and adaptogenic effects, the most common Eros-cultural use of the herb has been in the treatment of infertility in women, impotence in men and increasing the libido of both sexes and also for building muscle strength. Its action is also for lipid lowering in arterioslerosis, hypertension, and adrenal cortex hyper-function from shell, with elevated lipids, uric acid, and blood sugars with stomach hyper-secretions.
Active compounds found in tribulus terrestris are Saponins – ruscogenine, hemogenine, diosgenin; sterols – sito sterol – campesterol; flavonoids – kampferal, quercetin; fatty acids – palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic acids.
GUARANA EXTRACT
Guarana is used and well-known for its stimulant and thermogenic action. Guarana's good health benefits and its standing as a natural stimulant, has caused its popularity to grow steadily worldwide. In the USA today, guarana is reputed to increase mental allertness.
The rainforest tribes have used guarana mainly as a stimulant and astringent and in treating chsronic diarrhea. Tribal uses present and in the past are for arterioclerosis; as an effective cardio vascular drug; as an analgesic, astringent, obesity, febrifuge, stimulant and tonic aphrodisiac, to treat diarrhea and for hypertension, migrains, neuralgia and dysentry.
Guarana increases mental alertness, fights fatigue, and increases stamina and physical endurance. Native to Brazil, guarana is taken daily as a health tonic by millions of Brazilians. It is reported to help overcome heat fatigue, detoxify the blood and is useful for flatulence and obesity. In body care products, it has been used for its tonifying and astringent properties, and in the treatment of cellulite.
PALE CATECHU LEAVES EXTRACT
The indigenous people of Peru use gambir as a treatment for cancer, diabetes, ulcers, arthritis, infections, and as an aid in recovery from childbirth. It is also used as a contraceptive. In Europe and Peru, Cat’s Claw is used as a treatment for viral diseases such as herpes, shingles and feline leukemia virus. In the 90’s it was discovered to be a possible treatment for AIDS and HIV infection. At this time, studies are in progress for its use in treat allergies, stomach ulcers, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis.
The watery extract of the young shoots is used to dilate peripheral blood vessels and lower blood pressure. It acts as a sedative as well. The Peruvian Indians use pale catechu to treat cancer; however, there have been no studies to confirm its effectiveness. Pale catechu (uncaria gambir) has anti-tumor, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that are effective in the treating of immune system related conditions and intestinal disorders.
EPIMEDIUM/ HORNY GOAT WEED EXTRACT
Horny goat weed, an herb used in traditional Chinese medicine, is believed to increase blood flow, dilate blood vessels, and may even help fight infections. These actions may be of value for those with cardiovascular disease and bronchitis and may also be responsible for the herb's reported boost to sexual function. While we're hearing more and more about horny goat weed having the ability to raise testosterone levels and boost muscle mass, the research is definitely lacking, at least up to this point.
FENUGREEK EXTRACT
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is an herb that has been used medicinally since ancient times.
